Does anyone know where to purchase the mounting bolts for the trailer hitch on a 2000 4Runner? I took my hitch off to paint it and get rid of some rust and half of the bolts were almost rusted through.
Went by the dealer and they claim the bolts are unavailable without purchasing a complete hitch
Looking at the bolts, they are flanged head 12mm metric extra fine, also known as a jis flanged head bolt. No place I've looked in the US seems to stock them.
Anyone ever run into this problem and if so, where did you get replacement bolts?

Go to your local True Value hardware store where they will carry the exact bolts you need minus the JIS standard which means the bolt head will be a different size than you currently have. You can also find the bolts at your local Fastenal if there is one in your area.

The Fastenal stores in this area would be more aptly named "Carpenters Supply." If it isn't used in the building trade they don't have it and don't want to fool with finding it unless you're buying 1000's...

I agree, talk to the TACOMA SCREW guys. I needed a fastener once that they didn't have in stock... so they made it for me. Good people to deal with.

You also might try nutty.com, I've gotten lots of grade 8 metric stuff from them.
