Also my check engine or egr light is on. Is ther an easy way to pull the codes on these Raiders? I would assume that the brains on these things are that high tech.

The codes are pulled with a old analog voltmeter. You count the times the needle swings back and forth. I think there is a write up in the archives.

I would imagine you hit the "every 50k service light"

There is a switch behind the guages to shut it off. Nothing high tech about it.

I guess I missed it. Looking at tech on front page but nothing about check egr or error codes. Thanks for helping the noob.

I believe someone has previously made the distinction between the "check engine" light and the "maintenance required" light. The latter can be turned off by pressing a button (do a serch). The former can indicate a multitude of sensor/performance malfunctions.

If the "check engine" light is coming on, try clicking here.

But his sig say 87 Dodge Raider. My article is for the fuel injected v6. Isn't the only computerized component inside the dizzy on a 4 banger?

no, there's an ecu on the 4 cyl with carb. That drove me nuts- the carb does most of the work, but the computer and o2 sensor fine- tune the mix with a mini- injector to compensate for changing conditions and wear.

And so you get the worst of both worlds- fussy carb and inscrutable computer. Thing seems to work pretty well, though, most of the time... just heinously inelegant.
