How do I clean my windshield? #525238 11/12/04 10:00 PM

My windshield on my Tacoma has a smeared look when it rains and the wipers are on. It's dangerous at night with lights reflecting off the windshield. It may be that I got some silicon on it when I wiped the rubber gasket around the windshield with "Son of a Gun Protectant." Or, it may be car wax gets on it when I wipe down the body. I've tried degreaser, alcohol and window cleaner, but those don't work. Any other suggestions?

Invisible Glass (inside and out) works wonders. Then hit it with RainX. Perfect combination.

Try replacing your wipers. If you got solvent on the rubber it will continue to smear everytime you use them. RainX is also a great choice, inside and out.

Any glass cleaner should help. Rain-X is great, and car wax also does an exceptional job polishing glass. The water beads even better than RainX!

Need a Spot
My wiper refills seemed to smear like they are worn not that long after I replace them. The white foam type glass cleaner works great. Clean the blades and see how much crap comes off them.

clean auto glass with auto glass clean not house window cleaner like windex

when you get the cleaner, find the type that is amonia free or says safe for tinted windows if you have them

after you clean the glass use rainx on it

i just did mine 2 days ago and the day after it rained all day and i never used my wipers once

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Keiller --
I have noticed a similar problem with my windshield -- especially at night in the rain. I use that Meguiars or Eagle One spray-on detailer regularly -- I was blaming it on that. It's great stuff and has allowed me to keep my vehicle very clean without as much work as I used to put into it. BUT -- I think the stuff may run down from the roof and contaminate windshield/wipers (guessing).
