Installed the Body lift? #526235 11/15/04 02:39 AM

I installed the body lift from Roger Brown today. I have a problem. The bolts do not come down far enough to get a washer and a nut back on. For those that have done it, please verify I have done it correctly. You have the body, then a rubber bushing, then lift block, then frame mount. Beofe you had another rubber bushing, washer and 2 nuts below the frame mount. I can not even get a washer and nut back on. The threads are barely showing.

The bushing appears to sit in the lift block indention, and the the lift block sits down into the frame mount indention.

Did I do something wrong? Also duid you guys put a lock washer back on or did you use one of the ones that came off of it?

Thanks,
Keith

As far as I understand it, you are not supposed to reuse the thicker rubber bushing. That would give you those threads.

I plan on using lock-tite. The way I will be performing the body lift is slightly different (only 1") and will allow me to only use one of the nuts - hense the strong lock-tite.

Hope that helps! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I went out and looked at mine since it's been a while. My front bumper is off so it was really clear. It goes body, lift block, frame, metal washer then the nut. Hope this helps.

If BL is only 1" then you should be able to setup as I did. [Linked Image]

I cut bike inner tube and doubled it as damper then original washer, nut, then lock nut. All back on fine.

Oh, also used an impact wrench, tightened nut down until 1.75" between body and mount, then put the lock nut on.

Hope this helps.

Mark,

You took the top bushing off? so the body actually sits on the frame? This does not affect noise or vibration?

Thanks,
Keith

Morgan,

The instructions say to use the top bushing. If I didn't that would give me those threads.

rngrpower,

The lift from Roger Brown is 1 3/8 I think. That 3/8 makes a difference. I think the consensus is not to use the top rubber bushing that is next to the body. It is at least 1/4 inch thick.

Also for those that get the instructions you need a deep socket 22mm not a 20mm. Went to 5 places before I found one.

I just did my Body lift yesterday also. I had mine done in the following order body-2" block-cut off the larger diameter upper foam bushing-frame-replaced lower foam bushing with a 3mm rubber pad-reused but flipped lower bushing washer-lock washer-reused large nut. probably lock-tite the nut later today. (ran out of daylight yesterday) I'll have pics up later today on cardomain site.

Everything turned out fine. had to mess abit with trimming to get 4hi-lo to clear. No biggie though as I expected I would from what I read on here (thanks guys)! And today I'll be wrapping it up when I raise the front bumper. She already looks better, just needs a bit of mud to cover up that shiney paint.

It's a 21mm deep socket.

Mark,

I meant to day the body sits directly on the lift block?

So it goes body, lift block, frame mount. There will not be any rubber bushings.
