someone once told me the net was useful, always thought he was wrong untill i found this bord smile
heres the story, Looking for a 4 banger diesel (was hoping for a 4d55-t but these motors are all rare so i jumped on a the first one i found C223. guys says its outta a 1985 S15 and its gotta knock, so $100 later i got one heavey 4 banger that hasnet been used in 10 years and "suposedly has 60,000miles on it, long story short i spent about $1500 and am nearing completion of a rebuilt motor (crank ***** all new bearings cylinder walls ridge reamed honed new rings whole 9 yards) now as dumb as this sounds... i dont have a truck, but theres what i got, i have a clutch and a bellhousing no tranny, and all the electrical to make it work. sorry im new and dont now your names but i liked the guy with the sonoma deal, plus hes canadian smile but i wana put it in around a 85 s15 ish area but id like 4x4, i know these are gutless but low range should give some advantages... sides if its 4x4 i dont need to do 150 all over ( i'll work that into miles some othertime) but heres what im after, what kinda tranny do i need? (id like a 5 speed) what kinda transfer case can i get to line up with that? has anyone had any luck with getting parts with these engines from a gm dealer or an isuzu one for that matter???? any tips suggestions on how to start this whole procedure...things i need to be worried about. I have read allot on here and its very helpful, hopefully i can give you mor insight next coupple posts. THANKS again!

dont wana replay to myself but dont wana start a new post and i assume people are slighty intrested in more info on the c223 that knocked at 60,000 miles,
well my plan was to get the engine running before i took it apeart, but it sat for 10 years, good call i never tried that, fuel pump is full of gunk and varnish, week timing belt etc.... anyways the knock was luckey connecting rod #3 had spun a bearing... most likely cause was something hamering the top of the piston and head or too high oil pressure... which is why the crank was cut ten thou. under. and resized connecting rod. I had a problem with the oil pressure regulator valve found in the middle of the block off the main oil gallery, dumps excess oil pressure into the oil jet / piston squiters. never cought it untill i put it together and i had 100 psi turning the camshaft with a speed handel (was still working on putting in the rocker arms and pushrods and timing it... my specs said 50-60 psi at high engine speed, my math, timing myself using a speed handel i figured out 100PSI at 220 RPM!!!! so off came the pans. I also noticed in many pics that the blocks between the real isuzu's and the gms are the same but the pans are different, anyone know the reasoning? would u need diff pans to swap a original isuzu truck c223 into a s15??? just curious... hopefully i'll have some pics soon... thanks again and feel free to ask anything!

I could be wrong, but I thought you couldn't turn these cranks because they had a hard nitrile (chrome) coating on the journals.
