Just wondering if anyone has come up with a complete parts list for swaping a dana 44 axle into the front of a v6 swb. What years to use, custom fab work ect...

You might get some hints, but your going to have to do most of the ground work all by yourself.
Driver side drop front axle, some wagoner axles were driver side drop d44's.
Lets see what else; a nice garage with a good welder and other metal working tools.
Lee Raider has a 2.6 raider with Dana 44's front and rear. He is using leaf springs, and still has the stock tcase. I know he had the work done at a shop but he spent a lot of time looking things over and he definitely knows his truck well. He might be a good person to hit up for a few questions. Do a search under his user name to see the pictures of his trucks build up.

Yea, as DougH said, there really is no "parts list" made up. Basically it is complete axle from a donor vehicle, a Jeep Wagoneer worked well for me. My front is from a '80 Waggy with drivers side diff, and the rear is from an '89 Waggy with centered diff. I used leafs for the front, and had everything fabbed up for me by an off-road shop. But, if you have the complete axle, there really isn't a lot of other parts needed.....just need to get those parts to mate up to your existing parts to make everything work.
LandRaider will probably have a write-up some time soon on his. I didn't have one because I didn't do much of the actual work to build mine, I just got everything ready, and dropped it off at the shop. But LandRaider is doing all of the work himself I believe, so he will be able to have a better write up than I could. He also used a Jeep Wagoneer axle, or a Kaiser axle?
Two MRI's and a CAT scan....it's confirmed. I'm just not right in the head.

you may need to get some new brake tubing for the front end to mate with the D 44.

Yep... 3/16 line with metric fittings on the japanese vehicle end, and SAE fittings on the American axle end. Really easy to do.

thanks for all the input. What about the steering and drivelines? And does it make a difference if you are starting this project on a 4cyl chassis vs. a v6 chassis?

Steering can be acomplished several ways. Adapt to all gm steering... Adapt Raider box and arm to dana steering, full hydro, and I am sure tons more options from rack and pinion to who knows what.
Drivelines will have to be custom made.
All the SAS projects I know about are on 4 cylinder chassis, but it really does not matter. You are going to have to custom fab everything anyway so??
