????????????HOW DO I GET STARTED???????????????
I have a couple Toyota 4x4 chasis (solid front axle chasis and an IFS chasis) to play with now.
I don't know which one would be better to use as a "BAJA" racer. I don't know where to look for required items like rules and regs, safety cages, Fire suits, performance items, on and on and on.
Is there one place to look or a couple places? All the help I can get will be appreciated.

One might start with race organizing organization(s). SCORE is one I know of.

I would thing the IFS rig with a long travel (Chaos, Fabtech, etc.) front end would be a good platform. Unsprung weight of a solid front axle is much higher that a good IFS setup.

Here's a couple places that sell/do this:

http://inlandtrucks.com/

http://www.duffcoenterprises.com/
(wasn't working last I tried)

http://www.chaosfab.com/

Fabtech doesn't make a 4wd pre-95 longtravel kit (they do for the 2wd though).

http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/
in case you wanted to look at them

Also check out www.prerunners.net, they probably have some links to local clubs.

Hope this helps,
Todd

Mudrunner
TTB- Twin traction beam. Fords idea of an independent suspension from alteast 1983 till 97' for F150, F250 and the ford ranger. It somewhat resembles a scissor, while not much good for any other wheeling it has proved itself phenomenal for long travel baja setups. Me personally I would hack up a two wheel drive Ford ranger thats going to get you the most bang for your buck.

another idea is to go to couple of races as a lookie then see if they want volunteer. You can learn a lot from that. You can learn what you really need. I think you need more than a truck...that's for sure.

If you dont't like religeous holidays, go to work.Otherwise, let's call them what they are.
