Sc0rp10n, is there any chance you could take close up pics of where the connectors go in on the cluster? I've just gotten a UK Spec Frontera Sport cluster that I'm gonna try to use, but the connectors are different, so I have to re-wire them. It'd just save me time from getting mine out, just to put it right back in while I try to figure out the new wiring paths.

Here's the one I've got now:
UK Frontera Sport Cluster

When I get it I will do that for you. I plan on doing a write up for the wire too.

In order to switch from the 'mist' wipers to the 'intermittent' wipers, you have to swap out the buttons cluster on the side, but you also have to swap the relay under the hood in the fuse box. The mist wipers just have a connector with a wire jumping to connections. In order to have the intermittent wipers you have to replace this with the relay that's meant for it. If you need it, I can post pics. Hope that helps.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Thanks for the news Richard, I'll try to get the fuse asap but if you could post some picks, it'll be even better.

Hey.. I bought an XS cluster years ago and finally got around to putting it in.. the tach was reading about 2000-2500, so I was going to adjust the small POT (what does that stand for anyway), but when I put the screwdriver in the hole, it slipped past it, the tach jumped crazily for sec and now it is dead. I disassembled the whole works to see if I might have broken off one of the transistors or something, but there is nothing apparent. Does anyone have an experience with this screw up or does anyone have an XS cluster they want to seel me?? I can try again!! Thanks for any help.

Pot = Potentiometer = Variable Resistor. Click here for Wikipeida article.

I don't know the clusters well enough except to suggest you try poking around a little more; there's not much to them but some flex circuit board and a few electronic bits. If worse comes to worse, try junk yard dog or other junk yard websites.

Thanks for the info, Wayne. I know I could get one here in Indy, but my one salvage yard experience here was not so great. Not "bad" per se, but just the gruff, unfriendly, overpriced junkyard mentality that you find too often. Some guys/yards are great, but I have found them to be the excpetion to be sure!! I'll dig around a bit. Thanks again.

Ok.. I found a replacement cluster with tach (thanks for meeting me half way, Sean!!) and put it in. The cluster is out of a four cylinder like mine, but I'm having some tach issues. at idle and coasting the tach reads about 1000 or more RPM high. When under load it seems to read more correctly (e.g. I'll be idling at 2000 RPM by the tach, release the clutch and the RPM will drop and then gradaully ascend though the normal 1st gear range, only to jump up 1000 or so when I push in the clutch or even let up on the gas a bit). Anyone have any experience with or suggestions for this tach gremlin?? Thanks much!!

Sounds to me like a bad resistor somewhere.
