I checked out my throttle body tonight while trying to fit my Amsoil air filter (which I could not make fit, its too big) and it was quite dirty. It appeared that the gasket was a metal one. I've never seen one like that so I just wanted to be sure that I was correct. If that's the case then I don't need to worry about having a new one before I take it off and clean it out. Can someone back up this observation?

It is metal, but it has a crush ridge in it so that it seats properly. I'd imagine, like the crush washers on the drain plugs, that you can get a few uses out of it before it just won't seal any more. But if you notice a leak when you get done, I'd look there first (as well as at the vac lines of course).

Thanks. That makes sense.
Any idea what those things cost? Where's the best place to buy parts like that? Is there an internet source for Toyota parts that saves money over going to the dealer?

You can get the gaskets that are ment for the supercharger which are less restrictive from URD for $3.99 URD gasket but got lots of requests for us to make the available separately so people with normally aspirated trucks could use them for the famous "O" gasket mod. The stock gasket is "D" shaped with an obstruction that extends into the air stream resulting in a restriction. Our gaskets do not have this restriction resulting in greater flow and more power. The "O" gasket mod has become very popular with the normally aspirated crowd.

Thanks. Maybe I'll do the "O" gasket mod.
