Need a Spot
Hello there, I am new to this site. I am writing from Iceland.
I have a 1999 Trooper with a 3.0 liter diesel engine. I had the Check Engine light illuminating my face a few weeks ago, I took it to the dealer and they told me the Throttle Postition Switch was the fault. They can replace it, at the cost of $480. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> Show of hands that thinks that is piracy? So, where can I buy this sensor? Do they use the same sensor on different engines? I am a firefighter with a lousy paycheck and try to pay as little as I can for stuff. Any ideas?

Thanks, Gudjon from Iceland.

Body Damage is Cool
Guess the Non U.S. guys haven't checked in yet!
We don't have that motor in the U.S. but I'll bet Jerry Lemond will know. I'll phone and ask him to drop in and see if he can answer your question.
Welcome, amd IFRC there are one or two other guys from Iceland on this Forum from time to time.

Ok, cool. As I gather, diesel does not seem to be the fuel of USA. I have been looking around to see if vendors have this sensor, but no luck yet.
Over here, most japanese SUV?s are diesel. American SUV?s are gasoline powered and of course we have two columns arguing which is better, diesel or gas. But then again, cavemen fought over which was better, fire made through friction or fire made by lightning.

Thanks, Gudjon.
