Getting the Wheeling Fever
now that its getting colder out im noticing in the mornings when the trucks been sitting for a while and i go to start it the starter spins fine but it sounds like the bendix isent shooting out. Or it is but it will grind and hit the fly wheel and sound really bad but not turn the truck over. Try it again and it will work fine. Then it wont do it agian all day. Is this a bad starter of a very cold one?

Oddly enough I had an instance the other morning. It got down to about 0 here the other night and when I went out to start it in the morning and it turned over then got stuck on even with the key off, for a few rotations and was grinding. Eventually it stopped and then started fine after a second try. I just read another post that seems similar to our problems also. Must be something with the cold weather. Maybe somebody can give some more insight. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Pull your starters, disassemble them, clean all the parts of goo and regrease then put back together. Cold doesnt help but old dirty grease and dried out shafts are probably your causes.
