I have listened that the old model rear LSD, fits to the front, with a little lathing at the main gear. Has anyone tried that?

No. To be able to fit a rear LSD in the front you must swap an entire third member from the rear into the front. The bolt patterns are the same but the ring gear in the front is only 7 inches in diameter(ie: weaker than the rear.). Also, if you do decide to go that route, then you must devise a method to reduce spring wrap. Another thing: this will only work with a rear '95-'97 third member. In 1998 Kia changed the rear axle spline count from 26 to 28. The front remained a 26 spline.

well, that's almost all the info- it's also possible that the rear 7.5" ring and pinion set fits the front 3rd member housing. if so, you'd also have to buy a new set of rear gears with your LSD. the LSD will NOT fit the front ring gear. all this and more is discussed, and answered in the 2 threads at the top of the page, ecxept the part about whether F&R gears are interchangable between 3rd member housings.
95 Sportage w/welded and 5.89 geared dana 44's on 38.5" TSL's.- SADLY SOLD CURRENTLY - 2000 sportage, 5.38 gears, welded diffs, 35" tires, 5.5" lift http://www.cardomain.com/ride/341410
