Getting the Wheeling Fever
My check eng lite came on yesterday on my 2001 V8 tundra. I pulled the code at the local Auto Zone. It was for the #1 bank 02 sensor. Which one is the #1 bank? I cleared the code and it came back on within 10 miles. It is running fine and I checked the gas mileage after 100 miles and it averaged 18.9 mpg. highway. Maybe I should just ignore it? $73.99 for a new sensor.

There is a TSB on this - contact your dealer. Keep your cash <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

The letter I got read something like this...

2000 THROUGH MID-2002 MODEL YEAR TUNDRA V8 (2UZ-FE ENGINE) OXYGEN SENSOR WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE

Dear Tundra owner:
At Toyota, we are dedicated to providing vehicles of outstanding quality and value. As part of our continual efforts to meet or exceed your product expectations. Toyota wold like to advise you of an extension to portions of your Tundra's Emissions Warranty.

This warranty extension is offered for a total period of 7 years or 90,000 miles from the vehicle's in-service date, whichever occurs first, for a failure of either of the Number 1 Oxygen Sensors. The specific components covered by this warranty extension are:
- Number 1 Oxygen Sensor, Bank 1 (left side exhaust manifold)
- Number 1 Oxygen Sensor, Bank 2 (right side exhaust manifold)

I hope this helps --

Not advisable to ignore it. If the O2 sensor fails then you will stuck trying to get home in limp mode from my understanding.
