Need a Spot
Have a '01 rodeo and it seems to be using oil and I use synthetic...What could be causing this?? Also, what good tires would anyone recommend instead of the offroad type that came on it? My wife drives it mostly, and she'd like a quieter, street tire.

Body Damage is Cool
Do a search on this, there's lots of info.

But ya the 3.2 and 3.5 burn oil, to varying degrees. IÆm getting up there with my oil consumption. About 2qt every 1000 mi. but I also have a minor leak on the crankcase seal.

Really you should check it every time you fill up with gas and add abit if necessary.

The plus side of burning oil; because thereÆs oil seeping into the combustion chamber itÆs well lubed <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> so less chance of piston scoring.

Roll Me Over
As for the oil useage issue some people have had good luck with the following:

1. Clean or replace the PCV vlave
2. Run Seafoam (auto parts stores carry this) through the crankcase just before an oil change.
3. Clean the EGR system.

As for tires, quiet, long lasting, very good ride, Michelin LTX M/S. They will be the next set of tires on my wifes 98 Passport.

You didn't mention how much oil you are burning and I could be diggin' deep here but as far as I recall......

1q for every 1200m or so should be normal.
