I got my truck weighed at the dump about a week ago and was surprised how heavy these things are. I thought there scale was wrong! But now that I've read some of your weights on SWB's I don't feel so bad. My LWB weighed in at 4360 w/out driver, 1/2 tank of gas, and no tools in the back.

Hmmmmm, a possible advantage to the pickup... I weighed mine a few years ago and it was just over 3300 with me (230) and my 3 year old and my usual tool box and grab box (spare parts, jumper cables, tow straps, etc.). When driving my truck back to back with my old five speed 3.0L Raider, I always noticed that the truck was quite a bit quicker and pulled grades better. Both had 4.62 gears. The truck had bigger tires. At the time, my truck only had around 85K on it and the Raider had 175K, so that was certainly part of it. But if you look at the construction of the Gen 1 body, you can see there's alot of sheetmetal packed into that little cube!!

It might be interesting to look at the FSM weights. I assume they are empty weights (no fluids)
89 swb 4banger m/t - 3207lbs
89 swb v6 various - 3494-3538lbs
89 lwb various - 3924-3979lbs
86 p/u - (It'll have to wait until I'm out in the truck - 1t's about 20*F here and I'm not going out there again tonight, and the stinkin' Haynes probably won't have it, and I can't find my 85 p/u FSM...)
