I have got a couple minor problems with my grand cherokee. First the delay wipers stopped working, lo and hi work fine just no intermittent. Is there a relay that could be burnt out?? Second and this is really wierd, sometimes when I click on the highbeams the horn will beep once, also the security light in the dash( it has the factory alarm) lights up when I click the highbeams on, I dont think it should do that right?? Again with the horn it also got stuck on the other day right after starting it up in the morning, however once I turned the car off the horn quit. Usually the horn will still go if stuck on, motor running or not. I dont know I'm perplexed. Thanks in advance.
Matt

Matt,
My father's F150 had a lot of problems like that when he spilled a beer down the steering colum...
The intermeittent wiper thing. If yours has the same thing as the YJ, it is an inline plastic thing with wire connections on two sides, there is a metal plate screwed to the bottom of the dash near the parking brake release handle that has this plastic thing velcroed to it. Mine went out many years ago and I haven't had any trouble with it since then when I replaced it.... Your's sounds more like a wiring harness shorting out or something.... When you are having a fault as listed, slap the bottom of the steering colum and see if that changes anything, wiggle the turn-signal arm a bit and see if that changes anything, then start tapping and wiggling the wires under the dash that go up in the steering colum. Sounds like something simple, but could be a lot more, let us know what you find.

Well nothing from a good smacking yet, I'm thinking of taking the column pieces off and tracing the wiring. Maybe I should get a shop manual with wiring diagrams that would help alot.

well, you could do that, but there are a couple of other things that you can look at without doing that. Get a good flashlight or drop light that won't burn you and will fit up under the dash with you. Get comfortalbe position where you can see up under there and start looking for harnesses that connect to things, there should be one that is more or less mounted to the steering colum, this one has a fairly loose fit and you can easily get to it from the right side of the colum without removing anything. There are two or three other ones up near there that you can see fairly easily, just unplug them and then reconnect them. It's not that hard, just tricky due to the lack of workspace. Another thing to check wiht the wiper thing to determine if it is the control module.... You should have a washer setting on your wiper control, it should spray washer fluid and turn on the wipers. When you do this, it should run the wipers 2-4 times after letting it go to clear the windshield. If this works, but the intermittant still don't work, then the module is most likely bad. If you can find one to test with, do that, if it doesn't work with this, it is in the switch. Last resort for this would be tearing down the colum and then replacing that switch.... BUT with all the other faults you are experiencing, I would bet that it is faulty wiring, harness most likely not connected correctly in addition to the wiper module....
Let us know what you find!

Well I've narrowed it down to the intermittent wiper control governor, its a little black box behind the drivers side kick panel. $56.00 from the dealer PN 56007192 if anyone wanted to know. Its on order so hopefully it will do the trick. The wiper motor and switch all checked out good.
Now some bad news, my A/C has stopped working...great maybe $5,000 for this jeep wasnt such a steal. Anyways I know there are a few fuses and relays but those all checked good. I once heard that if the system gets too low on refrigerant it will not come on, as a saftey device to keep from burning up the compressor. Any truth to that?? Ideas would greatly be appreciated.

I once heard that if the system gets too low on refrigerant it will not come on, as a saftey device to keep from burning up the compressor its very rue. the AC pump is lubricated by the stuff it is pupming. you can get a gauge and recharge kit that comes with adpators for 30-40$ (i think) from walmart or kregan. you can check to see if the pressure switch is working by hooking it up to an ohm meter. i think it needs to be closed in order for the system to work. you can check to see if the AC clutch is getting ground (i think it works by having a constant B+ and it swtches the ground, a chilton or haynes will tell you) you may have a bad clutch on the AC compressor.
