I don't know if I actually have a problem or not, but something is not right.
The last few days while driving my windows will go from nice and clear to covered in fog. The car is warmed up when it happens and it is instant. I mean it is bad, I had to pull over today because I could not see at all. It has been real cold lately(around 5? F) My friend in the car said this is a sign something has stopped working. The lever for fresh/recycled air is on fresh.
Anyone point me in a direction to look. My blower was making a god awful noise today as well, but air was comming out. It was hot as well.
I must reitterate, the change from nice clear windows is instant and it is thick fog on the window. Hopefully it is the cold air playing tricks on me but I have never experienced anything like this.
TIA Marc

Usually that means your heater core is leaking...the moisture from the coolant is what is fogging up your windows.

That is what I was afraid of. How do I check it. Would it leak onto the floor of my front passenger seat? That happened to my 91 MR2 several years ago and there was a smell and a wet floor on the passengers side.

More likely on the floor. If you're real lucky the fresh/recycle air isn't working. (You flip it, but it's broke).

I don't think it is the lever(fresh/recycle) because I can hear the noise it makes upon a switch. Plus there is a difference in air when it is in the recycle mode as opposed to the fresh mode. I just went ouside and checked the floor and it is dry, but it is real cold out and I did not want to be out there too long. I will have to go check again after I put on more layers of clothing(-10? wind chill). This is probably an expensive fix isn't it(if it is the heater core).

This is probably an expensive fix isn't it(if it is the heater core). No it's really cheap, just a piece of tubing and a couple of hose clamps. Oh, you'll probably be all spoiled and want heat. Yeah if it's the heater core and you want heat it will be a bit pricey. That's the one part I've seen for Isuzu's that's just rediculously overpriced. Joe

If you got a leak, you should be able to smell the coolant also. Try running the A/C (if u have it) at the same as the heated defrost. It will reduce the humidity especially with the fresh air setting.

Spoken like a true California boy ...at +5 degrees F there isn't any moisture in the air to speak of, the dewpoint is well below freezing. So there has to be an internal source of moisture...the only source in the passenger compartment in winter is the heater core...or heavy breathing

How about UNDER the car? Leaks, not heavy breathing. Where the hoses meet the firewall, or where the A/C condensor drains?
