Need a Spot
We are installing an electric fuel pump on my '92 pickup and want to know what to do with the return line back to the tank. To block the return line would prolly just create a vacuum on the tank and eventually make it so the new electric pump would not be able to keep the delivery of fuel to the carb. What have others done to make a slick installation of the electric fuel pump work well?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have an '88 Trooper II that I installed an electric fuel pump on. I mounted it along the frame just above the T-case skid plate. I cut a section of the existing (hard) fuel line out and spliced the electric fuel pump into place using rubber fuel lines to hook to the (new) pump. I pump through the old unit that I left in the gas tank. I hard wired into the fuse box after locating a connection (trial and error) that would only supply power in the (key) on position. If you want to check out some really good electric fuel pumps go to: www.kinsler.com, you'll find everything. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

If I can't fix it, it ain't broke.

Yes, some but I still get a pressure build-up back at the tank if I screw the gas cap down like it is supposed to be. To review, I've installed the electric pump, taking the hoses off the old mechanical pump, did use the fuel pressure regulator before the fuel goes to the carb, and left the small diameter hose on the vent(?) fitting on the old mechanical pump. Under these conditions, if I screw the gas tank cap down (and not leave loose) then pressure builds in the tank. Should I remove that small diameter hose off the mechanical pump and raise it above the level of the fuel tank? BTW when pressure builds in the tank, fuel drips on the pavement from the engine area. I'm open to any ideas.

Sure runs good with the new(used)lower mileage engine.
