Where to start...???
- BFT! - Are you saying that PR got Gen I J-tops? - On the snorkel, did you see my post in the Talk thread? I have the template coming from ARB US. I am planning the same and am thinking about mounting it to that a Safari will be plug and play down the road. A copy if yours for the asking. - Bag the Quest seats. I like my Gen IIs much more. - If you need any help, you know where to call. You see, there's this guy down south that I learned me so much I was able to do the swap myself. (And a couple more scattered across the map. )

Frank, my checking account inspired me. Javypro says they got them, and claims it as home. I figure if US Territory, may be easier to import, and closer shipping. Hoping with a part # I can order new canvas/"windows"/seals. I like the Starion seats for the adjustable side bolsters and thigh support. Guess I never looked close at Gen2 seats. Wish I had the bucks for Recaro's.

Another brother-in-law of mine (not the wrench) is tight with a guy that I'm pretty sure is from PR. They guy used to work with the B-I-L when he ran his old company, and they still do work together now with is new venture. The guy still has family there. I think the B-I-L has even been there for a visit. I'm going to have to look into this. See if he can find any, etc. That would definitely be "too cool for school."

Eddy, you mentioned some rebuild stuff for your rear axle? Don't know if you've thought of this, but the V6 9" pickup rear axle will bolt right in to your four cylinder SWB. A rear drive shaft from a coil sprung SWB might be a direct fit as well. If not, then your original four cylinder rear driveshaft could be shortened.
I know you turbo guys are pretty happy with the 8" rear end, but if you need to freshen it up, why not go with the extra strength of the 9"?
Sounds like a great project, regardless!

V6 9" pickup rear axle will bolt right in to your four cylinder SWB. Interesting. I want to do a disc brake rear axle, and have some interest in 4.222 rear gears. Can you get an lsd to fit that? Maybe a rear locker for that axle? No lincoln. I've also got to figure out a way to stop axle wrap if I get too much torque, based on what Kary and Curtis say. I'm tending toward drag bars top mounted, with a length equal to the axle-front spring eye length. Makes a poor man's trailing 4 link rear end with no panhard rod needed. I also want a rear sway bar and a beefier front bar, both with a disconnect for off road. I've also wondered if I could use the sway bar trailing arm as the drag bar. I also want to put on a Fiat Spyder or similar rear brake proportioning valve, indexed off nose dive on braking, to adjust the rears for laden/unladen stops. Went and paid some more $ and picked up the following from my list: intercooler and all hoses and tubes (half bottom row of fins needs straightening up - can a radiator or ac shop do this?) throttle cable ecu and harness and control relay with B38 and fuel pump pigtails air can (no lid/MAP/IAT/MAF w/waste gate solenoid yet) spark box and dizzy and coil with radio thingy O2 sensor cruise control computer, column lever, vac pump, vac reservoir, actuator, cable, accel pedal assy., vac switch, check valves and hoses ac compressor, comp. bracket, 2 piece condensor, all hoses to firewall Used stuff still to get (it started pouring rain at Phil's): air can lid with all that stuff above complete intake with TB and injectors and all sensors (so I get a my old intake to fool with for MPI) cruise harness (all the cruise stuff is off an old flat side analog dash Starion) alternator New stuff to get for the first phase setup: injectors (unless mine test out ok) - found some interesting aftermarket injectors on ebay too for about $350 late model starion water pump timing set and new truck oil pump 91 V6 tranny V6 front axle and brakes and master cylinder I'm selling my working 85 Starion stuff as soon as I have it off the truck. You'd need to add intake (you can have my TB and injectors), exhaust and turbo and downpipe, and fuel pump and filter and fuel lines. Phil has all of that for sale.

Hoping with a part # I can order new canvas/"windows"/seals. I like the Starion seats for the adjustable side bolsters and thigh support. Guess I never looked close at Gen2 seats. Wish I had the bucks for Recaro's. Oh yes, I just happen to be back from my little island and happened to come across the gentleman that has the jtop it is BEAUTIFUL!!! Sorry no pics, they were not planed vacations but a family emergency. Anyway, it is that gold color with tan interiors, American racing rims with 31" BFG's you got to see it to believe it it looked great hauling a pair of SeaDoos. He promised to send me a picture so I will post it a soon as I get it. Couldn't talk for too long on the mods he had because my wife and my kids were not in the mood as their stomach were grauling. But PR is not recommended for those with a faint heart, there are so many Monteros per square mile that you will go crazy, all colors, mods and and ... I couldn't, I had to come back. Ohhh before I forget, one cool mod that this guy had in his jtop was that he fitted a GEN II brush guard to his GEN I, very little mod and very, very sturdy so strong that it survived with no damage whatsoever a free push he gave to a Chevy Cavalier that cut in from of him, NASCAR is just childÆs play compared to the traffic jams in Puerto Rico!!!
88 red Montero with the Dakar Special Edition decals, 438,000 miles (As of 7/23/2012) some occational blue puffing but still strong and counting!!! I am going ppsshhh (turbo), Stay tuned =) ...

We need sourcing for bodies...!!! Another thought I had was how much would it cost to get the critical body parts cut off and sent here. That would get around the more complicated shipping logistics, as well as maybe the whole import-a-car issues. That and a source for the top and we are on our way.
Maybe those who are interested might get a kitty together to make it worth someone's while down there to do a little leg work for us?
