I have a '94 Trooper that I am itching to convert to diesel. Unfortunately, there aren't many choices of diesel motors that will fit. I'd really like to go with a Cummins 4bt. Has anyone here done a 4bt conversion, or any other diesel for that matter, in a 2nd gen?

I've never seen such a conversion, but it is a big world, so certainly that doesn't mean it hasn;t been done...

That said, I think it would be damn near impossible to fit a 4BT into a Trooper... maybe a Land Cruiser, which housed an inline-6 motor, but the trooper has only shipped recently with V6 motors, and I doubt there is real estate.

Casey,I have some pictures of a Cummins 4BT in a jeep if you want to see for a comparison. Not likely that a 4bt will fit on your Trooper. But, there are a lot of other options. Some of mine are still secret projects under development. Others can be found in the Isuzu Diesel Forum. Thereis a great Board about disel conversions called Turbo Diesel Register where they put almost any diesel into almost any vehicle.

I'm pretty sure it will fit, a body lift will be needed for hood clearnce though.
