Need a Spot

My tach needle jumps around at idle and shows more RPM's than actual at road speed. Does it have a sensor or relay or ???

Ive heard that a jumping needle could be a bad alternator, but im not sure. with electrical stuff, there could be millions of things wrong kevan <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
