Ok at this moment in time my buildup plans are simple enough for what i want. My plan is this. Get the Scout rear dana 44 with 3.73's Do the waggy front with 3.73 and conversion so that it will work. And as far as that front axle goes cant i just get the bulk of the axle and swap the gears from the front scout axle i have? Then i would like to convert to yj springs so i would need that kit. Then put on a 4 inch suspension 1 inch poly body lift. One inch shackle reversal and then the tires et al. A warn bumper front and wear and warn winch. And maybe and air fresherner or to. Are there any suggestions yall may have.

If you're going to go through all of the hassle, why not just ditch the 4", 1" bl and shackle reversal and just go spring over with stock YJ's? I mean I don't know your situation as far as fab tools and what not, but if I was going to spend that much money/time and be looking around 5" of lift, I'd definitely want the flex/ride of soa. Just my $.02.

Well how hard do you think SOA would be with a scout 44 rear and a waggy front 44? Im down with alot of stuff. It will prolly be cheaper too huh.

Search on here for all of the soa stuff, John Nutter's articles are perfect. As a matter of fact, that's the combination he was running wag/scout. You'll find out that it may actually cost a bit more to do it correctly, but will be well worth it. On the plus side your springs will be cheaper because you'll be looking for stock yj springs $50-100 for the set. On the negative side you'll need to definitely account for a rear cv shaft, which you may not have needed for your 4". Plus you'll need a rear anti-wrap bar (which you could fab yourself). And, since you're going with a wag front, find a flat top, and then add in the cost of doing a hi-steer conversion.

the rear will be cheap. the front will be spendy. it's worth it though. i've done soa on my 30 and now on my waggy 44 i just got. costwise, you will need steering arms and steering linkage. make sure the waggy front has flat top knuckles. 73-76(or 77?)you will also need ford hubs and rotors to retain your 5 on 5.5 bolt circle. not sure of the cost as i'm still looking for them myself. chevy brake calipers too. i think you can use the waggy spindle but i will find out for sure when i get my ford hubs. if they don't fit i'll try chevy 44 spindles. the ford spindles definitely will not work.

waggy leaf springs work perfect up front. you will have to outboard the springs so placement won't be an issue. you'll gain two inches of wheelbase up front. you may want to use front wag' leafs in the back too to get another 2". there are endless possibilities. i just bought some dakota leafs for the rear and i'm trying to figure out the best way to make them fit. they are way too long but i want to keep the wheelbase they provide so i can fit a double t-case setup. the problem is, they stick out past the rear bumper 5" and it looks retarded. i don't want to stretch the tub either.

anyway, if you go for the soa i can post some pics of the stuff i've done to give you some ideas on how to solve the problems you'll come up against. i say go for it but it won't be cheap. it's not as simple as putting the spings on top of the axles. there are alot of other factors to consider.

You're looking for 74-76 wag fronts, they use the small bearing spindle, the same as 70's chevy, which you will use with the ford hub/rotor. There is a rumor that some 77's use the small spindle, some use the larger. Finding spindles at the yard isn't that difficult, or even ebay for that matter. I believe the FLAT TOP passenger side drop front wags went until 78 or 79, but they won't have the correct spindle, but by adding those two years you'll probably be more than likely to find one. As for price, I've bought two, and neither cost me more than $125. Take an ad out in the local nickle ads and ask for Wag axles/scout axles....some of them can be had for as little as $50.

As for calipers you can use the Wag's, they are the same as the chevys.

Valley cat is right on to outboard the springs, but only if you're not going to cut down the axle a bit. If you do the Nutter narrowing 4", you won't have to outboard. When you add the ford rotor/hub, I believe you add .75" to each side compared to just running the standard wag or chevy six bolt pattern. Your final wms to wms width up front should be right around 59.5", and your rear will be 58" for the scout.
