Found this today while doing my daily monitor shopping online.
"1982 Toyota Trailblazer - $400" Special Edition / walk-through cab / straight axle / 22R / Rod knock / extra motor & parts / needs work. $400 (OBO) Cash only Contact Jack at (like Im gonna give you the #)
Wondering if its worth my time to go up and take a look at what this fellar has. Could be the new project Ive been shopping for.
Thoughts?

I bet it's got one of those fiberglass "super" cabs on it. It's like a huge extended cab, but still only 2 doors. I checked one out here in Phoenix 3 years ago. Definitely different. $400 with extra motor? That is definately something to snatch up.
85 4Runner - With NEW Marlin 4.7 Gears!! It's a whole new beast!

trailblazer is just like a trekker...sort of like a better looking 4runner. it isn't in the yakima area is it? there was one for sale a year or two in autotrader on the front page, a red '82, but they wanted $2300 or something for it.

Toyota tested the SUV market in the states with these. They contracted out to a few companies to make them based on the pickup platform. People liked them so they started building the 4-Runner, the rest is history. They did the same thing with 4 x 4 Pickups before 79, I think they had Dana 30 axles under them and some type of divorced T-case!!!! See SAS is not new, in fact I helped do one on a 71 Dodge Maxi-Van in 75!!!!Lesson over!!!!!

downey and wolverine made 4x4 conversions on toyota pickups! they did for quite a few years, i don't think it was a test market really as they're spread around quite well
same thing with ford couriers, datsun 620s and chevy luv pickups. most had d30 front ends with a divorced dana 20 t-case!

$400 huh? You can't buy a decent canopy for that amount, much less an entire truck. I'd say at least look at it. If the body and frame aren't totally rotted out, it'd be a great deal, even with a blown motor and tranny.
If I had a place to store it, I'd look at it myself. Good luck!

I am only going by wht a Toyota Exec told me. I was at the dealership getting parts and when I came out there was a couple of suits eyeballing my truck. We got to talking and they were from Toyota America and that is what the told me.!!!!
