I was just noticing some rust along the bottom of my doors and decided to check out the possibility of replacing them in the near future, maybe this summer. So, for the heck of it I started checking on the availability of them. My problem: of the 50 or so I have looked at, none of them have wing windows like mine does. were wingwindows a special order thing or am I just looking in the wrong place? I even noticed when looking at pictures of members of this forum, I hard pressed to find them with these doors. I really like my wing windows, maybe we'd be better off buying a tub of bondo? any comments guys? Jo

I've never seen a 90 with wing windows. However, I would think that the doors would be the same. I would assume that if you got another door, you would be able to transplant your windows.

I think he is talking about the small windows at the front of the door. They are triangle in shape and hinge out to look like wings. We used to call them smoker windows(used to open them when you smoked and it sucked the smoke out of the truck and you flicked your ashes out).

I've never heard them called smoker windows. They've always been called either wind wings or wing windows. The main use was to create some airflow in vehicles before they had AC. Not everyone wanted to open a big window and mess up their hair.

I too have never heard them referred to as smoker windows, but it makes perfect sense though! I think everyone from that era remembers some jerk (usually mom or dad) puffing away with us kids in the back seat chocking up a lung or two! If it weren't for wing windows, us little kids woulda been DOA for sure! ...And didn't everyone's dad have atleast one of those "kronies" that smoked cigars on the way to their favorite fishin' holes with us stuffed in back! yep, to this day I still feel like hurlin when I smell a cigar! Today they call that child abuse! hummmm that gives me an idea.... like blackmail....oh, that's right,my dad's dead.nevermind. I wonder why.......59 years old he was, throat cancer it was...

Yeah, alot of teh 80's 4runners had them, (like mine) but the 90's are rare. I've seen tehm most in pickups rather than 4runners, (the doors are exactly the same).
Good luck ,they've super expensive from the stealer.
