Getting the Wheeling Fever
would like to know what would be the best winch for the dollor it wont be used a hole lot maybe once a month when find time to wheel "over the road truck driver" be looking at the diffrent brands and pounds it will be going on a 1994 jeep wrangler mostly street driver but will see trails like i said about once a month or so any help would a big help ive been told about a 6000 pound should be fine but the brand superwinch, ramsey, warn, milemarker thanks stevie <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

A winch should be rated to pull double what your jeep weighs. Your jeep fully loaded, gas, gear, tools ect...
weighs around 3900- 4200 so an 8k winch is in order.
While you should never pull anyone elses rig if it weighs much more than yours, in an emergency, having that extra 2k can make the difference.

All the winches you named are good solid ones, some have qualities far exceeding others.

For the money, confidence, line speed (yes this very important)and years of service, the WARN is far and away the best one for the money and quality.

I have the warn 8000 lb on my CJ7 and its far and away the best thing I ever bought. Get a treesaver, some good chain and 1 or 2 towstraps because sometimes you need just a bit more reach.
