Would a dying batt make the horn go apechit all of a sudden? While I was inside sitting on the couch just 20 minutes ago my truck parked out in the drive decides to awaken the hood with both horns going full bore. WTF......it's raining and cool but damm. Noticed last week that my low (fog) beams on my Cibie's don't work........might have wiring problems but how could that effect the horns? I think my truck is turning into Christina............

Any ideas. Looks like a Optima will be going in soon.

Shouldn't unless you have the auto lock doors with the alarm system. If it gets wet, like if you wife shampoos the vehicle's carpet and forgets about the alarm logic unit being under the seat, it does all kinds of fun things. Other then that it's just a simple circuit. Horn buttons provide a ground to the horn relay located in the driver's side kick panel. Relay sends 12 volts to the horns. Other side of the horn is ground. Could be the horn button in the steering wheel shorting to ground by itself or the wire to that button rubbing through and shorting out in the steering column.

You should definitely take it to the master techs at your dealer...

I will play the part for them

"it sounds like your transmission is shot, and you need a new fuel system."

I found that optima makes a battery with the posts reversed that fits VERY nicely into our engine compartment. I love mine, and I have pulled a bonehead leave the lights on for 2 hours, and was able to start up the truck and pull away.

Next time it happens, if it happens, find out before hand where you horn relay is and yank it while it is doing it. At least that will isolate the problem a bit. You could also go somewhere and hit the horn a bunch of times while turning the steering wheel to see if you can get it to happen again. I thing the stealership parking lot is a good spot. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
