I'm putting in my CB this weekend, and I'm probably going to put it in the console between the seats. It's the Cobra all in one (Cobra 75WXST Weatherband) and I'm hoping to put the jack for the handset flush mount right above the side view mirror switch. There's several wires under the console, so I'm guessing I could probably tap one to power the CB, but I'm not quite ready to start hacking into them to find a hot one. Anyone know off the top of their head if there's a good 12 volt feed under there - I'm willing to deal with switched or unswitched if I don't have to fish anything back to the dash.

Will,

IÆve had my center console in-and-out more times than I care to count (1997 Rodeo) û as well as the dash and shift console too. --- Believe me; I understand why you would prefer not to run any wiresà Butà

The air compressor for my Ranchos lives under the center console in mineà

I simply ran a live wire along the under-side of the dash, and then snuck it under the carpet, between the shift console and the center console (Well, back when I still had any carpet!) --- For ground, I just lined-over to one of the rear center console attachment bracket screws, where it connects to the floor/body.

Try this:

With the center console removed, take a coat hanger and bent a small loop into the end of it. --- Then simply push the coat hanger under the carpet, toward driverÆs side of the shift consoleà Once it peeks-out from under there, tie the new wire to the loop (maybe add a little duct tape too), and pull it all back through. --- From there, routing the other end of the wire, behind the dash and over to the fuse block, is a piece of cake.

Add an in-line fuse, and - Ta-Da! û a safe and reliable center console power source!

HTH û Good luck

Well, I WAS planning on putting another outlet in there at some point or another as well - if I'm going to go thru all that, I guess now's as good a time as any.

8 bucks at the local auto zone will get you a remote fuse box with six differnet connections. Them just run one power wire to your battery. Add attachments to it as nessasary and it can be hidden under the center console.

I am adding the CB, Front roof rack lights and rear roof lights to it. Then If I need to I have other options that can just be wired to that one spot. Hope that helps.
