OK, on the driver's side, towards the rear of the carb there's a pushrod that runs vertically. It goes into some kind of assembly that has a boot sealing the pushrod. It's about... 1/8th inch diameter rod? The boot on this is dry rotted.

Problem? How should I address this?

Thats the Dashpot throttle opener. You could try getting a carb kit and see if it's in there. I doubt it.

When you turn the AC on it open's the throttle to raise the RPM's . I think it also slows the throttle from closing to fast which would cause a jerking motion.

That boot is nothing more than a dust cover. I wouldnt worry about it to much. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
