Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm in need of a new rear main seal on my 84 22r motor. I will be installing the seal later this week. In prepairing to do the work I am going to also get a Speedi-Sleeve for the rear main. My question is I do not know what size sleeve to get, any recommendations ?
After I have dropped the tranny my transportation is two legs.

Last I checked...they only come in one size. When you have the end of the crankshaft exposed clean it up really good, if there are burrs take them down gently with some emery cloth then reclean and tap on the sleeve.

No-one here in town had the Speedi-Sleeve, had to order it.
I replaced the Rear Main seal ~75K ago just a preventitive mesure. Hopefully I am not running into excessive runout on the crank. I oly got the Speedi-Sleeve in case I find a groove where the seal rides.
I forget is there a adhesive added to the surface area of the crank where the sleeve is tapped on or do you just clean and emory paper down any rough spots ?

I used stuff made by Loc-Tite specifically made for speedy sleeves for both the front and rear seals of my '85. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

how do i remove this rr main seal? thinking of replacing this part too. oil is visible on the housing but i suspect oil is coming from rr part of the head where there are 4 bolts. 2 bolts hold the 2 brackets for the small exhaust pipe that goes by the water pump. 1 of the 2 bolts dropped while working and oil started leaking. if my guess is right, good. if not, it about time to replace after years of driving.

missing one of the bolts on the back of the rear block cover would definitely make oil leak but when my rear main leaked a little it was visible on the bottom of my bell housing.
