Need a Spot
I'm thinking of replacing my front HD OME coilovers with the adjustable sway-a-way coilovers. This would eliminate the need for both my aluminum spacers and the OME spring packers that are neessary to keep the front end at 3" of lift and level from driver side to passenger side. Is there any down side to making this switch (besides cost)? Has anyone here had both setups on there 4Runner? I love the OME suspension but the shocks are due to be changed which is the reason that I'm thinking of switching to sway-a-ways. I think it would simplify things (i.e. no more aluminum spacers, spring packers, or the need for spring compressors when changing shocks). Anyone know how long the sway-a-way shocks will last? My OME firm shocks have been on the truck for almost 60000 miles.

Roll Me Over
*****
I haven't experienced the OME's in front, but I've used multiple revisions of Sway-a-Way and Fabtech/Fox coil-overs in front for 4 1/2 years now.

The SAW's are very common, but there are so many really good adjustable coil-over competitors that I'd recommend against the SAW's. SAW's have their problems and the competitors have all improved on them or resolved those problems. IMO, you should consider King, Donahoe, All-Pro, and Camburg before you consider SAW's. There's quite possibly others, too. Read my very thorough post here from a year ago at this link.

The shocks on these adjustable and rebuildable coil-overs should last you as long as you have the vehicle. You are supposed to get the shock oil replaced once every couple years. The internal seals should also be replaced then. For the best ride, you should get the nitrogen pressure (200 psi) recharged once every year or two. There are gradually more places that service coil-overs. You can probably figure $40-80 plus shipping if necessary for a complete overhaul. I've used my SAW's for almost 4 years now. The oil has been replaced only once, although they are due for a change again. The shocks are slightly softer now, but it's still not bad at all. I drive 25K miles per year. If you'd get 2.5" shocks instead of 2" shocks, the oil should last longer between changes. Mine are 2". If your OME stuff is worn out, I'd recommend you keep it for those rare times that you need to swap out the other coil-overs for an overhaul. It's simple to swap in/out most of those coil-overs.
