I recently purchased a cylinder head from clearwater cylinder heads in Florida. The head has a new casting. What i found peculiar is it uses coil type springs to keep the rocker arms positioned over the valve springs. The stock isuzu head use spring steel type keepers. I contacted clearwater and they told me, they use the coil springs because the oem are harder to find. I am kind of leary of this set up. Any input?

It's just another way to skin the cat. It is also the same method used by many other manufacturers who use overhead cams.

I bought a head 4ze1 from them with that set-up 50,000 km ago.Truck runs amazing, lower emissions on a drive clean test than my 2001 grand-prix.I've been looking for signs of wear on the rocker shaft when the valves get adjusted and nothing yet.Seems to work fine
