I was looking at getting headders for my cj that I put a 73 wagoneer 360 in. I cant remember if the heads had the dog leg port or not, its been several years. I know I could just take the exhaust manifolds off but I didnt want to risk breaking bolts or ruining the gasket unless I was for sure it had the dog leg ports. Secondly, wich headders are best fit into a CJ-5(under chasis exit)? Thanks for any info. Jason

A '73 360 will have the dog leg ports.
Personally I wouldn't swap to headers. Because of the dog leg design your existing manifolds will flow as well as most headers. You'll be eliminating the problems associated with headers like leaks, excess heat, and short life.

you will spend big money buying headers that fit inside the frame. but if you get them, will you send me your manifolds. i will give you the monetary equivelent of a 30 pack(18.99) and shipping cost to 85345.
and for which are the best? custom made. but edelbrock makes some cool ones.

don't go with headers (unless your manifold is cracked or something). they're loud and don't last well. what hp gain could you possibly want starting with a 360? headers have seemed like a bandaid to me since i turned 25 and outgrew the muscle car thing.

Do a search on my user name to find a few other posts on headers. That said, I've had the same set of Thorley Tri-Y headers on my 304 for over 10 years w/o problems. I tighten the flange bolts 1x year or so and have never blown a collector gasket. They are not cheap and the one down side is that they hang down pretty far - as low as the spring hanger at the rear of the front spring.
I'd seriously look at the Edelbrock 'shorty' headers if I had it to do over.
