Now I just need to find out exactly what it takes to get 35s under a 93 Trooper

Step #1 - Aquire '93 Trooper

Hit the nail on the head. I've been running my 35" MTRs since last summer and if I told you they didn't rub I'd be lying to you. Still need to cut a little and smash a lot. Overall the 5.38/35 combo is an awesome setup for the street. My offroad testing has been limited due to time and monetary constraints up until this point so I'll have to get back to you on that.

I know you all have been on the edge of your seat, so I will say after reading the 11 page Tera 5.38 thread in the archives I have decided to go with the 5.38s, with at least 33" tires...or maybe larger.

Bottom line is I only want to regear once, and I think the 5.38/33" combo is liveable, and leaves open the option of 35s down the road...or who know, I might jump straight to 35s.

Still looking for somebody who has 35s on a 2nd gen Trooper to tell me if a body lift is required...not crazy about body lifts, but a little 1" BL wouldn't be too bad.

Now, as Steve G. so bluntly pointed out, all I need is a Trooper...

my humble opinion:

As for me, my 255/85s fit perfectly fine with stock wheels and 3.5" of front lift and close to 4.25" in the rear. That being said,

My rec for your situation if you want to safely fit 35s (im assuming 35x12.5):
- 15x8 or 15x10 rims with 3.75" of backspacing or less
- 3.5" tbar crank, 4.25" rear (coils + spacers)
- minimum 1" BL... although your future 93rs will most likely be a manual, so just go ahead and do a 2" or a 3" lift... (i still rub a tad on a full compressed turn, so I'm getting a 1" BL later this summer)
- trim the lips of your bumper under the fender flares (esp if ARB), and rear parts of the front wheelwells
- if you're not going to SAS, or not do it right away... get Darlington diff drop brackets, or fab your own, to easy up your CVs

PS - Ask drakemore.

1996 Isuzu Trooper LS, 33" BFG KMs, ARB Bullbar, OME 919's + 2.5" Daystar Spacers, RS5000's (Nissan Patrol's in the rear), DOR Bumpstops, K&N cone, Aisin manuals, factory LSD. oh, and a ton of N.E. rust

Just to get you one step closer to 35s, remember that Gilbert is running 36s on his Troop. I believe that he has the 3" body lift but I am not sure. Nor do I remember exactly the width of his Swampers. SG

I think you'll need the BL. My 33/12.5/15s sub on 15x7 Snowflakes (0mm Offset). The 1" BL and cutting of ARB bumber reduced "most" of the rubbing, but I still get some in spirited dricing (ie. running over a couple of telephone poles and stack of concrete blocks at 5+ mph).

I know he has a body lift, 3" sounds right...I think that came before the big tires though so I'm not sure he can tell me what the minimum lift would be...

Thanks, good info...is it necessary to lift the back more than the front?
