the wheels are 15x12.5 with a whopping 6" of back spacing.
There is really nothing "whopping" about these wheels. Although, I would suspect they are actually 12" wide. I am sure someone out there makes a 12.5 just to make me look bad, but I am going to say that nobody makes a 12.5" rim. Most likely, he measured from outside to outside of the rim, not bead seat to bead seat.
6" of backspacking makes it a pretty neutral wheel. i.e. the mounting surface, is pretty much in the center of the wheel. Although, due to measuring I would bet it is actually a 5.75" bs, which is pretty darn common as far as wheels go.
Now, I agree with Sean. You do not want these, they will not fit. You really want a 15x8 in rim to run a 12.5" tire. You can do 10, but you might as well keep the bead where it is supposed to be when you air down. Wheels are cheap. You can get 15x8 rims, through Summit racing, in almost any BS you want for about $50/rim. If it is a custom BS, they will come unpainted, but so what?
I am running (on a pickup) 35x12.5s on 15x8 rims with 2.75" of backspacing. If I was to do it again, I would consider going to 2.5". I have the steering stops turned out a bit to keep the tires out of the frame and whatever other metal that was in the way has been removed. Troopers have a bit of different metal around the bumper/front body mount, but it is almost the same. Overall, I love this combo.

Well I'm kinda in a situation here because he really needs the money and has held off on selling them to other people just so I could have them. I'm going to at least try them out to see if they will fit and if not then I'll look for another set.
Like I said though, these aren't going to be for daily driving. I don't care if they rub a bit, I just want something a bit better than my stock 275/35's which suck on the trail.
Ah well, I'll figure it out. I just can't seem to pass this up easily because it is a good deal and the money is going towards a friend that really needs to get back up on his feet.

yeah, what the heck, try them out. If they don't work out, try selling them on ebay. You might even make some money off of them?? You might want to crank up the front alittle, and ad a cheapo shackle lift($20). <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Welp, I went and bought the tires today. He got them all nice and cleaned up for me and the wheels look absolutely great. I installed them with no problems at all and took them down the street and noticed quite a bit of rub when cranking the tires to the sides on the front (which I figured) but nothing too serious.
So, would it be worth it to keep these tires/ wheels and cut out the fenders and possibly do a 3" body lift to my truck, or should I just sell them and get a smaller tire package?

I think your answer is contained in several of the above posts.
There is not much you can do to fix the rubbing. Fender is some of the problem, frame is the rest. Overall, these tires are not a very good choice for your rig. Especially if the rims are the size you think they are. Eventually, the rubbing will probably destroy the tires and then you will essentially have no tire and no money.
Good Luck, Michael

I checked clearences and there is no frame rubbing to speak of. The only rubbing involved is in the front fenders right in front of the doors and at this time it only allows me to turn the steering wheel one turn before they start to hit. I absolutely love these tires though, but this was mainly a science experiment to see how well they would fit. I'll probably sell the wheels off and find a smaller set. My friend I bought them from is pretty ingrained in the local offroading community so I'm sure he'll be able to find me a smaller set. What size wheel / tire package would you all recommend? I'm planning on lifting the truck a bit when I have some free time so I want them to be decently large, but not freakin 14 inches wide. Thanks guys.
