Need a Spot
|
I own a 1995 Sportage. The Radio comes on for a few minutes & then the sound stops. On the display it starts flashing "CODE" ??? If I need some kind of CODE, Where do I find out what it is & how do I enter it ?
Thanks, Dondobe <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> Tucson, AZ

You have to call the dealer to get the code. It's a PITA. I got the code and it didn't work. That's when I decided to get a new, good stereo and speakers.
Can't remember how to enter the code.
Because the code didn't work, I just pushed in the clutch while moving, turned the Sportage from ON to ACC. and then back on and let the clutch out again. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

Yup, the same thing happened to two of my radios. I finally gave up on the code deal and got a Pioneer. I now have a JVC. I do a lot of off-road in Mexico and Guatemala and those two radios have a lot of power and do not skip.

not sure how to GET the code, cuz the dealer gave me mine when i bought the vehicle, but how you enter it is by pushing the volume button when the word "code" is displayed. then by hitting the stereo preset buttons the number of times to add up to the numbers in the code. say your code is 8769, you press the stereo preset button #1 eight times, then preset button #2 seven times, #3 six times and #4 nine times. then hit the volume button again and it should come back on and should not have a problem unless it's power source is disconnected, then you do it all over again, so keep the code handy once you get it. the radio's volume, and other EQ features will be turned all the way down when it comes on again, you have to reset all those controls except your stereo presets.
