So I'm about half way into this Franken CYJ right now and my buddy calls me up and tells me he wants to sell his jeep. Its a 95' with a 4" lift, hardtop w/halfdoors and sliding windows, 4.0, flowmaster, 33" tires, tire rack, 9k warn winch, kickin stereo, and a bunch of other things..anyway its really really nice. He said he would give it to me for 7k. I got to thinking what if I were to sell my CJ and buy his and throw on the axles and stuff into it that I am currently working on.

How much could I get for my CJ? I would sell it with the recently rebuilt, 4.2 with a 4.0 head, borla headers, and catback, NP435 tranny, One piece axles, hardtop and doors, 8k winch, lunchbox locker in the front, 3" skyjacker lift, and 33" tires. Granted it has been rolled and has the coastal plague but I just put a newer hood on and is not in too bad of shape. Not that I want to abondon the prodject but, its an idea that is plagueing my mind . How much could I realisticly ask for mine? I also would have do get rid of the frame and the tub thats hanging from my garage.

It's a work of art! You just have to decide what it's worth to you! Any work of art is worth as much as any given art lover is willing to pay. Search the web and see what others are asking for theirs. I know of one near here in much worse shape than yours with an asking price of $3500, He's had no offers that I know of. But that wouldn't be out of line for yours I reckon.

jeeps are kinda funny to sell. you've gotta catch the right person at the right time. whatever price you decide on it might go right away or sit there for 6 months. in my experience lowering the price of a jeep doesn't necessarily sell it faster, it's just gotta strike the buyer right. if it's going to be a juggling act tight to the dollar it might be a problem for you, but if you can soak up the investment for a while...

that CJ is a Gem. you put a crapload of time and effort into it, busted knuckles, invented cusswords, and perhaps strained personal relationships. keep it and will it to your grandkids.

We all love what we have put money and tears into. Do you really wanna go the easy way for the setup? Or you wanna have a nice old gal that you know inside and out.

*SNIFF* its just my allergies. You guys just gave me the strength to keep on truckin. I love my old jeep and yeah I've put allot of time and money, blood, sweat, and a mention in marriage councling from the other half. I was getting a little discouraged but by god that thing is getting done. Right after I read all your posts I bought high steer arms, a locker for the front and a master install kit for the rear axle Just to prove my loyalness to the old girl.

While were on the topic of buying stuff. Whats the best shackle reversal kit to buy. I kinda like how the warrior and the rubicon express kits poke out a bit, but the full traction one reuses the existing spring hanger in the back. I also have looked at the M.O.R.E. kits I plan on using wagoneer springs to give it a little more wheelbase and I managed to snake a pair of wagoneer shackles which will enable me to use the existing mounts on the back. I like this idea better because I don't have to cut off unneccessary stuff in case I decide to change it. Just not sure which one to get

tell me why one would want to reverse their shackles. i've been eyeing revolvers for the front, and it was my understanding that front shackles are the way to go. something about the axle walking away from the truck with the shackle behind the axle?
