hey guys. I saw on www.marlincrawler.com that they are selling complete 4.88 to 1 E locker diffs for $765. that seems like a steel to me has any one bought there E locker form marlin? was it used or totally new set up? I think that will be my next purchase after My SAS gets done.

Its got to be used, but rebuilt to perfection by the ultimate guru of offroading Toyotas. That's better than a new stock one.

They really aren't that expensive from Toyota. Inchworm sells them for just a bit more. But for that price, you only have the choice of 4.10, 4.30 or 4.56 gears. If you want different gears, expect to pay for a complete set of new gears and install labor on top of that price. Then you have to figure what electrics to use to activate it and modify the stock housing to make it fit.

Shoot, that's an excellent price with the 4.88 gears! If you buy the right components from the right place, you can build a controller for $20 - $30.

No...it is 4.88. just got off the phone with big mike it is a rebuilt on with new 4.88s I agree with mat. if marlin touched it is is better than a stock new one from toyota. MARLIN IS THE MAN!!!

Heck yea, thats an excellent price. I would have loved to payed that for mine. Instead I payed 1250 brand new from inchworm. I would take it in a heartbeat.

The good thing for you is that you wouldn't have to change the front ratio to make one these units work for you.

As far as re-using your current rear gears with an electric locker... it dosent't work that way. Your current rear diff comes out and the locked one goes in with some grinding, drilling and tapping of threads on your existing housing.
