i posted earlier about ordering the aussie locker for my yj with the converted 8.25 and some replies came back saying they don't make a 27 spline locker. it took a while (since i started thinking of a different locker) but i found by looking under the xj section since that's what the rear came out of they do make one part# XD-58227 just incase anyone else has the same set-up. now what are the opinions on putting one in the front, i'm going with RE-4.5 inch with 33 inch tires <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Leave the front open, or selectable locker and get a rear locker. The front has too many things to fix to get ready for a locker.

A selectable locker will allow you to select open/LSD or locked. These will make it so it is still steer able on the street, and doesn't spin the shaft very quickly on a disconnect axle.

If you put a full time locker in a YJ with a disconnect, you will more than likely need a new front driveshaft as well. The full time lock will make it so that the disconnect still allows the jeep to make turns, but the front driveshaft will always be spinning. Every YJ I have ever worked on has had a poorly balanced front shaft with messed up splines. Also, with the driveshaft turning all the time, front driveshaft angles will become a problem. If you have a t-case lowering kit and try and run the front shaft at high speeds for an extended period of time you will get vibrations and u-joint failure. If you can get a selectable locker that is open or locked, you won't have to worry about all the drive shaft issues.
