Buying a car on ebay #601150 05/08/05 03:03 PM

By the way, I bought my truck on ebay, I have seen threads dedicated to the pros and cons of doing this. My transaction, as well as five others couldnt have gone better.

Everyone, EVERYONE was exceptionally helpful, friendly and honest. One deal didnt go through, they didnt give me negative feedback, we worked the situation out, we both took a bit of a loss.

The ONLY person who was not very helpful was the guy running a kids "safe" playground business in Mass. Yep, the LIBERAL, those compassionate ones. hahahha, yea, right. They are compassionate about helping others with my tax dollars. The guy was not co operative, just wanted to stick to the exact original arrangement, he wouldnt budge an inch

to help me with something that wouldnt have been any skin off his nose.

Its kinda funny, his business sells kids playgrounds that are "safe", so that kids cant possibly hurt themselves. That makes me laugh, then the kids never learn how to deal with dangerous situations. My kids, 8, 10 and 10 have spent the last year living in a house under construction, boards with nails sticking out, balconies with no handrails exposed to the first floor drop, all kinds of dangerous thinghs, but they have learned how to be aware

and spot dangerous situations, and I would put them up against any kids in the world for being able to go through a dangerous place and not get injured.

I see kids nowadays falling off bikes and landing on their heads (literally, I saw that happen) and everyone says, "good thing he had his helmet on", well, the helmet just teaches him to NOT LEARN how to land safely in an accident. Me and my four brothers, we all grew up rough and tumble and we learned how to fall without major injury.

Need a Spot
I am glad you brought this up, my question is if you buy a car in another state can you drive it home or it has to be shipped, and if you can drive it home what need to be done first to get pass port of entry. Thanks

Legally, and technically, I wont swear to this, but, many people buy and drive. I did. Each state has its own laws regarding registration

California gives you ten days to register after buying, so I figured if I bought it, and being a calif. resident, I had ten days to get it home and register it.

When I went across the country, I saw many a state trooper, but none pulled me over. I had Pennsylvania plates, but they werent even current. What I learned, is that in PA. you need a sticker on the PLATE proving you have current insurance. California doesnt do it like that, we have a document similiar to your registration card when cop pulls you over, if he asks for it, its your proof of insurance.

SOme states change plates every year, but Calif. we have yearly stickers that they send when you pay the registration.

anyways, not sure of the answer, not sure if it depends on which state you are in or not. I even drove my trailer with no trailer license, and no AAA smile
I guess I was taking a huge risk, wont do that again though, half the time I was thinking, "what the hell am I doing"

Actually in PA you donÆt have a sticker on your plate showing you have insurance. You get an insurance card for your wallet. ItÆs a registration sticker that goes on the plate. We pay registration fees every year (think itÆs $36 now) and get a dated sticker for the plate. We also have to get an inspection every year. ItÆs the sticker in the corner of the windshield. And the inspection and registration have to be dated no more than 30 days apart unless you have temp a plate or temp registration sticker on the plate cause you just got the car. This can be a pain because you might have to get you car inspected 2 times in 1 year to get you reg and inspect to synk up. However, to register a vehic you must have insurance first because on the form that gets sent to PENDOT it asks for your policy #.
