Based on recommendations here, I ordered a pair of Brembo rotora and a set of 1149 PBR front pads from Import Replacement Parts. The Brembos are very nice and a good value. The PBR's look to be outstanding pads, even nicer than stock. But they didn't fit my 89 4Runner! Too big....apparently they are V6 pads.

Researched on the 1st Toyota Parts site and saw that they list the big 1149 pads for the 2WD 22RE 4Runner and the small 252 ones for the 4x4. That seems kind of goofy. Why would the 4x4 of the same year get smaller pads than the 2WD <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The same pattern holds with the Van, but I've never seen a 4WD Toyota van.

LandCruiser also uses the smaller pads, according to 1stTP. So, it appears that all Toyota trucks of that period use the larger pads (about 4 5/8 long vs. 4 3/16 for the little ones) except for the 4WD 22RE 4Runner and Van. Still not sure about the pickups, tho.

I checked some other parts sites and some auctions and found a bunch of conflicting information. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

Can anyone shed some light on this?

IRP and their representative, Jeff, did a superior job helping me set the matter straight. Very prompt and clear communication and a timely, fair remedy. Unlike some others I've dealt with, they actually care about fixing the error in their application chart. Very happy with them.
