I have put this also on the 4wheeling section.

Got all the parts to do the swap for my '94 V6 4Runner with a '97 Tacoma engine but I am planning ahead for this one before even going for it so there wouldnt be any snags in the way. I also purchased a complete kit from ORS (whewww $$$) since I dont wanna mess around with the wiring and also a used set of Downey headers.

Can anyone show me some options on what they have done? Pictures would definitely be a big plus.

Did you just go to any custom exhaust shop and let them do the whole thing and how much did this thing set you back?

Thanks.

Chard

Have you seen this? http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...34324&fpart=1&PHPSESSID=

After researching this back for about 4-5 years on every forum I could think of, I've decided to use a good muffler shop near me to build everything from the Downey headers back. Starting with weld-on 3 bolt flanges on the header collectors, followed by flex joints off each header, then routing the 2.25" cross-over behind the transfer case to a y-pipe and step up to 2.5" the rest of the way, using a 2.5" in/out Carsound cat and a 24" Magnaflow muffler (I don't want it to be too loud). If you can find a place that will do mandel bends it would be great, but it seems no one around here has one for exhaust pipe sizes. The quote I got from the muffler shop was for $300 and I am providing the flex joints, cat and muffler.

I appreciate the input but I already have that bookmarked.

What do you think if I use the Downey crossover pipe and their Y-pipe kit? I am planning to have a muffler shop do the exhaust work so that it will be clean.

BTW, where did you purchase your flexjoints?

Thanks.

The Downey cross-over seems to have too many compromises just to make a kit for the do-it-yourselfer to install without welding. The flex joints I called Uni-flex (try googling) and they gave me a distributor closest to me, in Dallas.

Do you have the link for the Uni-flex joints? I tried google but it showed a bunch of metal, concrete and PVC fabricators.

Yo dood, I've got that setup on my 4runner. I'll take pictures of it tomorrow and post them up.

I can't find them now either, I got the closest with an internet search of "exhaust flex joints". They don't normally sell on the retail level, they have distributors who then sell to muffler shops. Downey sells the Uni-flex joints for $33.60 each, that's about $4-5 more I paid for them through a muffler shop supplier in Dallas.

Did you get a chance to take pics of your set-up? Thanks.
