What are you guys doing about rust on top of the rear fenders? I have a small patch on both sides and would like to nip it at the bud before it gets worse. Just noticed it this weekend. Thanks in advance
Conner

Conner -

I'm not a body expert, but the only way I've seen rust-through properly dealt with is to cut it out and weld in a new piece. You can try bonding a fiberglass patch to the inside, but I'd think that rust will remain in the area of the pinhole and continue to eat the surrounding metal.

Probably the best is to take it to a body shop and ask them.

Frank

If you can get to the inside of a rusted area and sand blast it a fiber glass patch will work. I did this on a Bronco roof that had major cancer, pin holes and thin along a long thin section. It worked perfectly, but you have to have good very good prep.

Other than that its cut and weld.

A patch pannel from a rust free donner would be a nice way to fix it.

Roll Me Over
I currently have a hole in my passenger's rear wheel well big enough to stick my arm through up to the shoulder.

My local body shop guy is gonna cut me deal on welding a new(used) section in as long as I can get the cutout from a junkyard. Too expensive to think of buying the peice new.

I'll post pics later.

Yup, I can fit my arm through that hole to check the tire pressure.

Body Damage is Cool
No wonder you get water in the floorboards when you play in the water. I sure don't miss that Rust belt corrosion. I love my rust free Raider.

My little compartment was rusted out back there too.

Nittebergs site has the most ultimate restoration I have ever seen. GO check it out!!!

I just welded a panel into mine, and put roofing tar all down in it to seal it off. smile works great

I had to patch a hole in the passenger floor... and under the rear door. Lots of welding / cutting /grinding. smile

I think I have a new welding apprentice though...
