I have a buddy who just bought Donahoe coilovers for his truck and he wants to know if its possible to put a lift spacer in the coilover? He doesnt want to crank them up and make the ride super stiff, but I told him he is going to make it stiff if he sticks a spacer in there. Hes hoping to get around 4-4.5" of lift out of this setup, but doesnt anything above 3.5" of lift alter the geometry of the suspension to the point where drop down brackets are needed? Thanks guys

2.5" is the most you can get before destroying the cv-joint 4 to 4.5 will be way to much and you may run into a problem with the drive shaft itself rubbing on the frame of lower control arm
if he wants that kind of lift tell him to take the coil overs back and get a real suspension lift I think that ruff country has a 5" lift
if he doesn't want to do that just crank the coil-over to 3" and use a 1" diff drop then use a 1 or 2" body lift
oh yeah one quest is it a pre-runner or 4x4

I know he is going to put in the diff drop to keep the CV's happy. I told him just crank up the coilovers and be done with it. Putting a spacer in there is going to make it rough as hell, not to mention cause spring sag on those $900 coilovers <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> And to answer your question his truck is a 4x4 so he really can't get away with a lot of lift.

yeap the most he can do is the 3.5" with the 1" diff drop
but i have heard of people having problems running with a 2.5" lift and the cv boot ripping
if i was going to do that kind of lift i would crank the coilover to 3" and use the 1" diff drop so the cv angles will act like it is only a 2" lift then for the extra 1 or 2" lift i would use a body lift
