I need your help!!! #609623 06/02/05 12:09 AM

I'm working on a 97 sportage. It's backfiring up thru the intake, it is very sluggish, it seems to bog down at around half throttle & CEL is on. I took it to a garage they plugged their computer into it (at a cost of $101.76) and said it was coming up with a code of P0108. They told me the map sensor was bad, so I went to the local Kia dealer and bought/replaced the map sensor(56 miles one way and $212.68 for map sensor). This did not fix anything!! does anybody have any other possible fixes? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Are you sure they gave you the correct code readout? According to the 1998 - 2000 FSM P0108 isn't used. The only difference with the 1997 is that it has an EGR while the newer Sportages do not. But those are different diag codes.

While P0108 is a vaild OBD-II code for MAP sensor as I said above it isn't used on the Sportage. I would suggest getting the codes pulled again. I think someone gave you the wrong number.

You can avoid an additional diagnostic fee by going to Autozone. They will pull codes for free.

If it turns out that I'm incorrect and P0108 IS a valid code for the 1997 then I suggest signing up and paying the fee at http://www.kiatechinfo.com and using the diagnostic charts to aid you in fixing the problem.

1998 Sportage - Gone.
2004 Honda Civic Coupe.
2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara - She got it.
