This list is funny! I might be talked into carrying all that stuff in my ride if it had a 900 gallon gas tank!
Jesus are you planning on pushing it off of a clift? If it is that junkie maybe you should get a more dependable one.
I would carry some cokes and munchies and wear a LONG teeshirt just in case.

I agree with BJ, that is ALOT of stuff. For a Trip out for the weekend or just a day, that is a bit too much for me.

I wouldn't call a 2001 TJ with 34k miles a junkie.

OK, lets say you are out wheeling and your oil pressure sensor breaks and is spraying oil while the engine is running, how is your t-shirt and munchies going to get you off the trail? What if you bust a u-joint or tie-rod???

The basic principle is to carry enough stuff so that you can limp off the trail for the things that commonly go wrong, i.e. - u joints, tie rods, belts, hoses etc. Out in the West/South West there are miles and miles of open land to wheel on, where it can take hours to get back to a town and no cell service. You need to carry enough stuff to try to get you off the trail. East coast wheeling is a little differnt in that the areas tend to be smaller and usually there is a town near by (I use to live in Ohio).

i would add a spill cleanup kit to your list. at least some oil absorbant and a garbage sack to pack out your contaminated dirt.

the list looks good to me. it doesn't seem excessive. i would throw in some spare lugnuts and since your taking a tire plug kit, you probably should take some type of air compressor to fill your tire back up.

i don't usually pack that much stuff on trail. i usually 4 wheel in areas where camp is nearby. i don't even take a spare tire. if i need something, i just get a ride to my trailer and get it. if it's a big run like jamboree or something, i'll take a bunch of stuff so i can fix quick and not hold up a group.

Looks pretty good, though I don't carry that many tools. When I had a Dana 35, I had axle shafts. The only thing worse than wheeling with a Dana 35 is not having spares when you break it. Friends don't mind helping, especially if you've got spares.

I'd add a chain and a tree-saver strap to the recovery list. A snatch block (pulley), too. I use all that stuff lots.

The most important "emergency gear" you can have with you is three or four other rigs (friends) on the trail with you. Even if you burn to the ground, you're friends won't leave you there. We've all heard horror stories. The common thread is that, no matter how many days it took, every one gets home.
