All, We just got back from the beach. After loading all the gear, my wife and I have come to the conclusion that a roof rack will be our first big accessory. Suppose I need to find a place to host a few Pics, cause it was REALLY cool. I'd love to show you all. Anyway.... A search pulled up This Recent Thread. Those of you that bought aftermarket racks, would you buy another one??? The Surco rack appears fine. Anyone have any new insight? How's it holding up? The 45"x60" is about $180. It might just do the trick. However, after just paying $90 for 5 hours sleep (in a motel with wafer thin walls and such), I'm thinking that cheaper is not always better. Man. Not having a shop is killing me - But that's another story.

If the 04 Rodeo isn't enough, good thing you didn't go with the Liberty! (Never hurts to point that out to her.)
I have a simple solution, and it won't cost any money. Take the Unimog. Parking will be easier, too.
Sorry, I don't have a safari type rack.
Search on "Host Pics" or "Host Pictures" and you'll get some hits; comes up fairly often.
[color:"white"]? 04 Rodeo DI ?[/color] 75k mi, body damage on the 1st weekend I got it.

HAH!!! You didn't hear it from me, but it was kinda nice to go over 63mph, have air-conditioning, and not have a gazillion poeple ask me 500 gazillion questions. But, you didn't hear it from me.

I have one that is on my 02 passport. I made it and looks pretty good. made a better one that is sitting in my shop almost ready to go out for sale.
Make sure that you just look at what is going to be usefull for you. obviously you need one it is just a matter of how big you want to go. Also remember that you probably have a200 pound wieght limit. 1 fll cooler and you are nearing you limit. At least for me.

Beautiful beach and ocean! Where is this place located? It would also be nice if you updated your profile with your location.

Here's a shot of my 93 Rodeo Roof Rack. http://www.4x4wire.com/cgi-bin/gall...c_johnson.jpg&img=12&tt= ALthough you can't tell from this picture it has the ability to carry 2 bicycles and a kayack on top and still get a lot of stuff up in the rack. (This was built before the Motorhome phase of my life)(But then modified after we got the Coach, so I could flat tow it.) If you go look at the bargin bins at Virgin Records you'll see my rack. Cause that's where I got it. Seems they decided to toss them out for a new design. Then some smart exec decided not to toss them all. I got one of the few they discarded. Really simple design and easy to duplicate. I used 4 Yakama cross bars for mine to hold it up, so I have an estimated 400lb capacity. Beside the bikes and Kayack mounts, it has a shovel and axe mounted up there. Oh, and almost forgot, the forward driving lights are mounted so they can rotate down to fit the truck in a normal garage. Very important when you raise it as far as I did. I mounted some back up flood lights and some brake lights for towing behind the motorhome also. It takes 2 people or a big tree limb and winch to mount it. I know cause I had to take it off when I last painted the Rodeo. And lastly, since you like to beach camp, and if your interested, I can explain how to hang a shower with hot water off the rack. It works really well. The ladies love being able to wash the sand off and get smelling good when facilities are a long way off. All in private. When I was single my girl friend loved useing that shower. Fashion Models have this thing about appearance!!!!! I have a lot of pictures but it may take a while to dig them up. So if your interested, later this week I'll look for them. Curtis J

I have zero pictures of my truck, I never realized that. I had to go back 2 years. Oh well, here is my Yakima. Couldn't be easier to install, fits factory rack. And trust me, it can fit more than 100lbs but the highlift mount sucks. Heres what you want, I believe its the Load Warrior, it can be extended another foot also. (if you want a better pic just let me know) Scott F.

Con-Ferr (spelling?) is probably the best off-road worthy production rack that I have seen. Most people that know what they want in a rack end up building their own cause there are very few racks that will accommodate every ones needs. The little racks that you see on top of Suvs look kind of silly to me cause 3'x3' can carry maybe a ice chest and a sleeping bag. I built mine to utilize the entire top of my trooper and I have carried a ton of stuff up there including firewood, camping gear, gas cans, ice chests, etc.... ![[Linked Image]](http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/778000-778999/778322_27_full.jpg)
