HELP!!!!
I recently completed a body swap on my 4runner. For the body swap, I used the original wiring harness and electrical components. Now the 4runner wonÆt stay running. It starts, but dies almost immediately, maybe a second or 2. The check engine light stays on too. Initially, I pulled a code 6, but am no longer getting any error codes. A major problem could be that, during the re-installation, my friend thought the wire from the alternator was a ground and grounded it to the body. Not realizing the problem, I tried to start the truck and it wouldnÆt fire. When it fired for a brief second, the check engine light stayed on. Thinking it was just an air pocket in the fuel lines, I continued to try and start the truck with the same results. I then decided to try and pull the check engine codes (Code 6 was the output) and discovered the wrong connection to the alternator.
Now I fixed the alternator wire and tried to start the engine again, I got the same results. Now the check engine light stays on, but there are no error codes.
Things IÆve checked per the FSM include:
1) The computer. I tried a spare computer too. 2) AFM-Normal Parameters 3) Cold start injector-Normal Parameters 4) Main Relay-OK 5) Open Circuit Relay-Ok 6) Solenoid Resistor- Resistance was a little higher than spec. 7) I have fuel in the fuel return lines at the tank. So I donÆt believe I have a fuel delivery issue.
Code 6 is no signal from Ne on the computer, how do I check to see if there is a signal from the Ne. Any other suggestions??
Forgot to mention, it's a 22re.
Thanks, Wilson

The fact that it runs for 2 sec suggests it is a fuel problem - the pump primes, but won't stay on. You should confirm this with afuel pressure gauge.

Roger,
Thanks for the suggestion. I tested the fuel pump by inserting the jumper wire and can hear the buzz from the fuel pump. I also tried to start the vehicle with the jumper in and still no luck.
I think I'm going to check the voltage at the injectors.

Make sure the wires that go from the computer to the ignitor are connected or not burned through.

If you havn't already, check your main engine to chasis ground, I had the same syptoms many moons ago and this was the problem. I have also had a fried computer relay on an mr2, The hood prop shorted the battery. Took me forever to find this. It was a small relay beside the computer.
Simple things, but worth the shot.

I tried a bunch of thing last night. Here are the results:
1. Checked all the fuses. All were good. I did notice that the previous owner repalced the 15amp EFI fuse with a 30 amp, but I don't think this is the problem.
2. Has fuel in the tank.
3. I rechecked the resistance values in the AFM and they were fine.
4. Shorted the fuel pump and can hear the buzz in the engine comparment and just above the fuel tank.
5. After pressurizing the fuel line, I disconnected the fuel line to the cold start injector and fuel was spraying out the line. (spraying and not dripping)
6. check all the injectors, the no. 10 and no. 20 has current per the specs in the FSM. Teh solenoid resistor has current and resistance but is a little low 8.5 volts vs 9 volts. Checked the resistance int eh injectors and they were fine.
I do have one question regarding the wire connection to the injectors. Per the FSM, injectors 1 and 2 are wired in parallel and injectors 3 and 4 are wired in parallel. I'm assuming the cylinder are in order 1-2-3-4 from radiator to the firewall. IS this right?
This is gettting very frustrating. Thanks again for all teh suggestions.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I got it running again over the weeekend. Actually, Marlin from marlin Crawler checked it out and told me what was wrong. It was a connecor to the coil/ignitor.
Marlin was up in the Bay Area dropping off a tranny for me. Marlin is a great guy.
Thanks again
