Hi folks on my 95 ZJ 4.0l the temp gauge stopped working today, after the typical pounding on the dash to see if that worked failed, I dug deeper. I checked any and all fuses that could pertain to the gauges; dash and under hood, those were fine. Checked the wiring for the temp sender on the t-stat housing and like a dummy went out and spent 20 bucks on a new temp sender, well no fix. After searching I think I understand there are 2 temp senders on the 4.0 one on the t-stat housing and one in the back, if so which one supplies signal to the gauge, did I replace the wrong one?? I'm out of ideas so far other than to gauge itself went on the fritz. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Did you look closely at the sender you took out and the one you installed? If I remember correctly there is a difference in the appearence of the part that is in the coolant.. If the one you replaced is not zackly shaped the same... It ain't gonna work. On the flip side if you put a sending unit where the SWITCH goes the damn thing will hardly run... You would know right off if you did that,]Big Jim

I appreciate it BigJim, I might have to look at them both again to be sure, but I'm bettin if I remember that the replacement one was not the same as the original. Thanks I'll keep digging.
