Scary, Mike, glad it worked out as well as it did! Imagine if it hit you in the face... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

...having met Mike, not much would change...
Just kidding.
That had to get your undivided attention!
That made up my mind for me, I'll buy the components, R/R the chunks and have the heavy work done elswhere...

Thanks, that does make the local shop option seems more apealing. I'll have to call around and see if anyone is willing to do it for a resonable price.

...having met Mike, not much would change... LOL, ain't that the truth! Good thing I have an extra layer of "huskyness" and a liver made of granite. I'll do it again, but I'll take the necessary safety precautions next time. Mike

I did mine (01 4x4) with borrowed compressors (one on each side of the coil) from autozone. No problems, but as some have said, it's kind of scary -- lots of kinetic energy in there!
Many years ago, I was doing a similar job on an MGB with only one spring compressor, on one side of the coil, and it slipped off, putting a hole in my barn roof!

I ordered my shocks online and took all 4 and my truck to a local tires shop. They install all of em for $100. Plus they had me bring it back after 1,000mi. to make sure it was all ok.
