Getting the Wheeling Fever
My 2003 Rodeo just turned 30,000 miles and I'm wondering if brake fluid, power steering fluid and fuel filter replacement is a good idea at this time. The owner's manual recommends power steering fluid replacement at 30k if the vehicle is driven under extreme conditions. I didn't see any mention of brake fluid or fuel filter. What do you say?

It wont hurt to replace those fluids and filters, may even want to check into the tranny filter and fluid. Brake fluid should be flushed once a year to prevent water contamination and to prevent the lines from rusting from the inside out. The power steering fluid can be replaced, but check the manual to see what it requires, some of the newer cars require straight tranny fluid, usually Dexron II for ford and GM and ATF +2 for chrysler. I drain my power steering resv. and refill it once a year (probably only get about 25% of it out).

I change the fuel filter every 30k

Flush the tranny every 30k.

and flushed the brakes and repacked the bearings at 50k. I think I'll get at least 80-90k out of the Orginal brake pads (I plan to replace them with OEM pads, because if I can get 80k out of the second set that would be very nice).
